We will be working on all of the assignments and homework that I discussed with you yesterday in class today.

Poetry Memorization Assignment
First, search for a poem, that is at least 35 lines, that you find interesting or meaningful.  Next, submit a copy of the poem you will be memorizing to me by Monday 8/14/17.  Finally, present your memorized poem to the class on Monday August 28, 2017.

August 10, 2017:

1. Turn in you essay on turnitin.com if you did not do it in class yet.

2. In Defense of Memorization - Link
Read this article with your elbow partner and write down five key points that we will use in an activity and discussion on Monday in class. Title your paper: In Defense of Memorization


3. Signed Syllabus-Please read this over with your parents/guardians and bring a signed hard copy to class on Monday.  (Because Canvas is not working yet, I will provide copies for you in class today.)

4. On Friday we will be taking a STAR Assessment in room 622-Please bring the poem that you have chosen to memorize in case you have extra time after the assessment.


5. Be prepared with two copies (one for me and one for you) of the poem that you have chosen on Monday 8/14/17.

6. Bring your student ID to class tomorrow.
