8/14/17 Monday Agenda

Go over scores from the STAR test that you took on Friday!

Submit your copy of the poem you have chosen to memorize for the August 28 Poem Recitation Assignment.

Submit your signed syllabus.

Get out your 5 Key Points for the 
"In Defense of Memorization" Article.

Take Notes on Questioning under your 5 points.

3 Levels of Questioning: ? Video

Write 3 Questions about the Kite Runner novel (1 at each level that you just learned) to be used in a Socratic seminar activity tomorrow.

Examples of "types" of questions for the Socratic seminar:

Level 1=Who is Sohrab?

Level 2=How many children has Baba fathered and what are their names?

Level 3=In what ways does Amir seek redemption and explain why he acts this way?

HW=
1. Bring 3 level questions about the Kite Runner to class tomorrow (write these questions on the same paper as your In Defense of Memorization facts and the question notes)

2. Essay Exam (In class timed essay about Kite Runner 45 minutes) will be on Friday.  I will not give you the prompt until the timed writing starts in class.  You may use any notes that you have from your summer reading of the Kite Runner or notes from the movie. I will return your graded notes before the in class essay.

3. Memorize your poem for the Recitation on 8/28/17.

4.  Late Kite Runner or (Alternate novel) Summer HW Essays, notes and theme assignment are due Friday 8/18/17 via turnitin.com (I will not accept any essays or summer HW after Friday)

5. I will be switching over to CANVAS instead of this blog on Wednesday (this Wednesday 8/16/17).
We will practice logging in as a class so that I know that everyone can access CANVAS.

6. Bring an electronic device to class on Wednesday to log on to CANVAS!
