Literature Circle Book Analysis Group Assignment

Choose a book in the World Literature Category to read with a group of about 5 students.  You will have one day a week to work with your group in Literature Circles to discuss the book.  All of the actual “reading” of the book should be done outside of class.  All students will be responsible for reading and analyzing two World Literature novels per semester.  You must obtain your own copies of the book that you choose from the RHS library, the public library, used book stores, or on line.  Please see the list on the back of this page.  There must be enough copies of your book for each member of your group.

Book Analysis Requirements:
  • ·         Synopsis-short summary of the book without giving away the ending
  • ·         Historical context (Social Construct)
  • ·         Background information (Setting)
  • ·         Discuss one theme from the book and how it may or may not still stand true today in today’s society

Think of a creative way to analyze your book for the class.  You may choose one of the following ideas or you can come up with your own creative idea:
  • ·         Create a video that reviews your book and upload it to a site such as YouTube
  • ·         Create a presentation that reviews your book using PowerPoint or Prezi
  • ·         Facilitate a mock Interview with the author that will review the book (live or recorded)
  • ·         Create a Book Trailer (live or recorded) that reviews the book

Reminders:
All Group members MUST be involved in creating or performing/presenting the presentation.
All Group members will receive the same grade on this Book Analysis Assignment
