1. Turn in your signed syllabus (Write your name and period on the top right hand corner please)
2. Pass back Journal 1
3. Discussion on why we memorize
4. Question Breakdown-Levels 1-3 (take notes)
5. Kiterunner discussion-Take notes on three types of questions-turn in notes for points.

Examples of "types" of questions for the Socratic seminar:

Level 1=Who is Sohrab?

Level 2=How many children has Baba fathered and what are their names?

Level 3=In what ways does Amir seek redemption and why?

HW=

1. Late Kite Runner or (Alternate novel) Summer HW Essays due Monday (I will not accept any essays after Monday)

2.  Poem memorization due Tuesday 8/23/16-Do not leave this until the last minute.  Start memorizing now and do 3 or 4 lines per night until you are shinning with confidence for the recitation next Tuesday.

3. Have the title of your poem that you wish to memorize and some background information about the author and the poem ready to share by Monday 8/15/16.
